ACCIÓ (Agency for Business Competitiveness) is a public institution of the Generalitat de Catalunya (Generalitat de Catalunya), dependent on the Department of Business and Employment (Departament d'Empresa i Treball). Its main mission is to improve the competitiveness and growth of Catalan companies by promoting innovation, internationalization, and attracting investment.

ACCIÓ's Main Functions

Driving Innovation

Supporting companies' R&D projects and promoting cooperation with scientific and technological centers, universities, and research institutions.

Providing consulting services on technology transfer and intellectual property protection.

Promoting digital transformation and green innovation initiatives such as ProACCIÓ 4.0 and ProACCIÓ Green.

Promoting Internationalization

Through 40 trade and investment offices around the world, we help companies expand into international markets.

We provide export consulting, international market entry strategies, and support in finding international partners.

We organize international trade inspections and participate in international bidding projects.

Attracting Foreign Investment

Attracting high-value-added foreign direct investment through Catalonia Trade & Investment.

Providing comprehensive services for foreign companies, including support in site selection, financing, recruitment, and administrative procedures.

In 2023, ACCIÓ facilitated 112 investment projects, attracted €880 million in investment, and created 4,500 jobs.

Support for Startups and SMEs

Providing financing, training, and support for market expansion.

Managing the Catalonia Startup Directory and promoting collaboration with larger companies.

Provide special financial support, such as "Start-Up Capital Grants."

Development of Industrial Clusters

Promote the "Catalunya Clusters" initiative, which currently encompasses 27 clusters, with 2,900 participating companies and an annual turnover of €80 billion.

Promote collaboration and innovation among companies and improve overall competitiveness.

ACCIÓ's Global Network

ACCIÓ has 40 commercial and investment offices worldwide, covering more than 100 markets.

In Catalonia, there are 7 regional offices that offer services close to companies.
